In Solidarity Against the Peshawar Attack
People from all countries, from every faith, tradition and ethnic background have spoken out against these attacks, condemning the Taliban and standing in solidarity with the victims and their families. Politicians, media personalities and celebrities spoke out against the violence. Vigils have been held in major cities across the world and scores of people poured out to express solidarity with the victims and their families.
Individuals and organisations have been coming forward to contribute in various ways. An initiative, 141 schools, has been set up and aims at establishing a school for each of the lives that was lost. The Pakistani cricket team donated all proceeds of a cricket match to the victims. British Pakistani boxer, Amir Khan, donated £30,000 shorts to help rebuild the army school in Peshawar school.
In an article that was published in the Guardian, former Prime Minister Gordon Brown spoke about how “an event – a terrorist attack – has united the world in outrage.”
In the UK, we see this coming together as British Pakistanis and others stand together in solidarity. Below are some of the tweets and messages from the British Pakistani community and from other thought leaders, politicians and the public against the attacks.

David Cameron
It is a dark, dark day for humanity when something on this scale happens with no justification. There is not a belief system in the world that can justify such an act. It is nothing to do with one of the world’s great religions – Islam, which is a religion of peace. This is a perversion.”
Sajjad Karim MEP
Today, many students and teachers at a school in Peshawar had their lives brutally ended by the acts of a group of deranged extremists. This indiscriminate and horrific attack by the Taliban is an act of pure barbarism.

What has taken place in Peshawar is absolutely horrific and sickening. After recently becoming a father myself I can’t really imagine how the families of these innocent children are feeling. My deepest condolences out to all the families affected and I wish to express my full support for Pakistan and the people of Pakistan.
