BPF “Recipes for Success” Video & Podcast Series: Professor Jawwad Darr

Prof Jawwad Darr was born in Bradford and was the son of a bus driver who emigrated from Sialkot, Pakistan in 1962. Jawwad is now Prof of Materials chemistry and Vice Dean of enterprise (in maths and physical sciences faculty) at University College London (ranked in the top 10 world’s best universities according to QS and other rankings). Prof Darr has a distinguished track record in the field of advanced materials and manufacturing and is one of the UK’s leading scientists developing battery materials to power the next generation of electric vehicles (under the Faraday initiative). He has also been a visiting professor in Pakistan in Lahore, supporting development of affordable biomedical materials over a decade.  More recently, Prof Darr co-founded a networking charity called UP-SIGN that is coordinating academics and professionals from the UK and Pakistan.
