The British Pakistan Foundation celebrated the launch of its Business and Professional Club with a networking event at the Bluebird Chelsea in London.
LONDON: March 19, 2015: The British Pakistan Foundation (BPF) celebrated the launch of its Business and Professionals Club with a networking event at the Bluebird Chelsea.
The highly successful event brought together over 120 professionals from across industry sectors, including representatives from Goldman Sachs, HSBC, JP Morgan, UKTI, Habib Bank AG Zurich, PwC and Islamic Relief. Prominent Guests included Cllr. Mustaq Lasharie, Hitan Metha, Executive Director of the British Asian Trust, and Apprentice star, Zeeshan Shah. The event also featured a special appearance by His Excellency, Syed Ibne Abbas, Pakistan’s High Commissioner the UK. In his keynote speech, His Excellency remarked upon the positive energy at the event and commended BPF for its role in bringing together professionals and supporting the development of the community.
Asif Rangoonwala, BPF’s Chair and Director, delivered the welcome address and spoke about BPF’s visions and its goals. Naseem Amin, Director at BPF, also addressed the audience, and shared his experience of returning to the UK after nearly two decades in the United States, and being confronted by the stark realisation that many members of the community did indeed need a helping hand. Sakeena Lalljee introduced BPF’s Women’s Network, an initiative that seeks to bring together female professionals for networking opportunities and peer-to-peer support.
The evening also included a performance by the celebrated pop singer, Abbas Hasan, and a stand up comedy session by Salman Malik. London-based fashion designer Omar Mansoor also spoke at the evening and shared his experiences of his rise to fame in the UK.
Former Apprentice star, Zeeshan Shah, described event as “a fantastic evening” and praised BPF for its role in showcasing role models in the community.
The evening concluded with hors-d’oeuvres and more networking.
BPF’s Business and Professionals Club is a platform dedicated to promoting and facilitating business development within the British Pakistani community. Utilizing the experience of successful British Pakistani leaders, the Business and Professionals Club provides valuable resources, information and connections for business leaders and entrepreneurs.
