We are pleased to announce our first mentoring and networking event for British Muslims, in partnership with Mentyoo and Deloitte Muslim Network, ‘How to Break into Financial & Professional Services’.

The evening will feature an esteemed panel from various financial and professional sectors, who will be sharing their career journey as well as invaluable career tips and advice, with a Q&A session open to the audience.

As part of our ongoing Aspire Mentorship Programme, this event is a must for anyone venturing into the world of financial services, providing unparalleled networking opportunities to meet professionals in finance face to face, learn from them, be inspired and ask them questions that will help you get to their position one day.

Moderator:

Ibrahim FerulloCo-Founder and CEO of Mentyoo / Head of Finance at StuRents
Mentyoo uses technology to help clients (particularly from underrepresented groups), provide world class mentoring programmes to young people who need it. The platform provides young people with the support they need to thrive and fulfil their potential.

Alongside Mentyoo, Ibrahim is a senior strategy, finance and operations executive with “Big 4” strategy experience consulting across a several sectors including FS, Real Estate and TMT. He is currently the Head of Finance at StuRents a market leading PropTech company. He graduated from SOAS University with a BA in Political Science and Government.

Presentation by:

Salma Hussain – Management Consultant (Deloitte)
After graduating from King’s College University in Biochemistry, Salma joined Deloitte as Management Consultant, specialising in Artificial Intelligence and Data. She will be presenting around the topic of ‘How to network effectively as a Muslim’.

Panel Guests:

Ali AlmakkyGlobal Head of Payment Solutions for Mobility Sector (JP Morgan)
Ali has been Global Head of Payment Solutions for Mobility Sector at JP Morgan since January 2022 based in London. He is also their Supervisory Board Chair. Before this role, Ali worked in Corporate and Investment Banking Strategy at JP Morgan. His career spans over 27 years, during which time he has also worked at Citibank, McKinsey & Company, American Express, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Deutsch Bank. He got his MBA in Finance at Lahore University of Management Sciences, followed by an MSc from London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

Sehr Askari – Private Banker (Citibank)
Sehr began her career in Finance in 2008 at State Street Bank, where she worked in Fixed Income Credit Sales & Trading. She is currently a Private Banker at Citibank since January 2022. Before her role at Citibank, she worked at Standard Chartered Bank. She completed her MA in Modern Languages from the University of Edinburgh.

Fauzi WaraichPartner (Deloitte)
Fauzi has over 18 years of professional services experience, with a focus on strategy and operations consulting projects for Financial Services clients. He is part of the Strategy and Operations practice at Deloitte and his primary area of specialism is Capital Markets. He has led projects across the front office, operations, risk management and regulatory response areas as well as supporting clients through corporate strategy engagements, structural reform, cost restructuring, large scale transformation and operational performance improvement. Prior to joining Deloitte, he was Principal at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, Senior Manager in the Capital Markets leadership team at Accenture and Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers in their Banking and Capital Markets Practice. Fauzi holds an ACA from the ICAEW and holds a Bachelors in Engineering (Computing) from Imperial College London.

Please note: This event is aimed at students, new graduates and young professionals as mentees so that they can gain and learn from the experience of the panel and mentors present on the day.
